Most fascinating of all to Isolt is the great horned river serpent. |
The Creek and Wand of Exceptional Power
On the eve of his birthday, Isolt had a dream that she went down to the creek to find the Horned Serpent, which rose up out of the water and bowed its head to her while she shaved a long shard from its horn. Waking in the darkness, she proceeded down to the creek. The Horned Serpent was waiting there for her. It raised its head exactly as it had done in her dream, she took part of its horn, thanked it, then returned to the house and woke James, whose skill with stone and wood had already beautified the family cottage.
When Chadwick woke next day, it was to find a finely carved wand of prickly ash enclosing the horn of the serpent. Isolt and James had succeeded in creating a wand of exceptional power. |
Bellevue Falls
At only 6 feet of height, the falls are split into two segments by a large thumb-shaped rock. The the pool you will find at the base of the falls is one of the state's best, as it could easy fit a party of twenty. The entire stream is attractive and you will find cliff jumping possible off an 8-foot ledge. Always use common sense before engaging in such an activity, and never jump into whitewater near the falls until you at least scout its depth. MUGGLES WARNING
Beware of the Great Horned River Serpent with a jewel set into its forehead, which lives in a nearby creek. |
