Description of Downtown
Downtown Adams consists of a 1.3 mile walkable loop of Park, Hoosac, Summer and Center Streets containing some of the best preserved historical architecture in New England.
In the downtown area there is an exhibit space, 2 Museums, 2 Art Centers, 2 Art Galleries, 3 Dance Studios, 3 Boutique Hotels, 9 Buildings on the Historic Register, over 15 restaurants, and numerous attractions and shops.
Within this walking loop the 11 mile Ashuwillticook Rail Trail and Hoosac River passes through, there are five parks and the new Adams Station serves as the terminus for the Hoosac Valley Scenic Railway that runs on weekend to North Adams.
There are approximately 1,750 spaces in the overall downtown area. Most parking is free on street and metered parking is 25c per hour.

Located in the Northern Berkshires in Massachusetts one hour from Albany NY or Manchester VT, Adams is also only two and half hours from Boston and a three and a half from New York City.
Downtown Adams is an association of retailers, restaurateurs, owners and developers with an aim to increase downtown economic development and promote unified campaigns such as shop local and shop small.
